Ministry and Volunteer Opportunities
Getting involved and serving at Desert Palms Church, PCA is a terrific way to connect with our members and community.
The Welcome Team provides general church information and a warm welcome to everyone coming to Desert Palms Church. This Ministry is ideal for those who enjoy meeting new people and making visitors feel at home. The Ushers and Greeters serve the congregation by distributing programs, finding available seating, and collecting the offering. This Ministry needs team players who are capable of balancing assertiveness with graciousness as they seat people. The Fellowship Team builds community by planning and coordinating church activities and fellowship opportunities. This is a great Ministry for people who enjoy planning get-togethers. The Children's Ministry cares for the children of Desert Palms Church by teaching and facilitating children's Sunday School, the Nursery and Vacation Bible School. The Mercy Ministry provides meals on a temporary basis to people who are unable to cook for themselves due to pregnancy, sickness or other circumstances. To help provide or receive meals... The Missions Team partners with missionaries and ministries around the world and educates and mobilizes our congregation about missions. The Youth Group is a great way for teens to connect through fun activities and fellowship. To participate in our junior and senior high group... The Audio/Video Ministry helps keep our members in touch with past sermons or special services/events held at the church. The Flowers Ministry is a chance to be creative and help our church to look its very best using fresh or silk flowers and to help in organizing flower arrangements for special services and memorials. The Small Groups Ministry is designed to encourage bible study and fellowship in a smaller group setting - usually held in a member's home. The Library Ministry has books available for members of all ages to check out. Located in the Conference Room, it is open between 10:00-10:30 a.m. on Sundays. This ministry is always looking for donations of un-marked/gently used books - especially Christian children's books.

Made with Love Stitching Ministry will meet Friday, September 17th at 10AM at DPC.
The next work day is September 18th from 8 to 11AM. The emphasis will be on inside and outside cleaning in preparation for the Wayne Grudem conference. Please contact Rob Hood for more information at 480-239-6282.
Please come join us for our second card workshop of 2010 on September 22nd at 7PM! We will be creating a variety of cards to send to Operation Write Home, a non-profit group that sends blank homemade cards overseas to our troops to select and send to their loved ones. These soldiers select the card that fits the occasion (birthday, anniversary, etc.), adds their personal greeting and this organization mails them out free of charge. The fact that these cards are all “made with love” adds that special element for the wonderful men and women serving our country! No creativity required, the workshop will offer simple instructions and a good night of fellowship as we create ~160 cards to send to this worthwhile cause. Come join us!

DPC will be hosting a conference on September 25th - "A Biblical Approach to Politics Today" with internationally renowned theologian and author Dr. Wayne Grudem. Dr. Grudem is Research Professor of Theology and Biblical Studies at Phoenix Seminary and has just authored a book "Politics According to the Bible" which will be for sale at the conference. The proceeds from this conference will support the Boling Family, Missionaries to Bogota, Colombia.

The new church office hours are 9AM to 2PM Tuesday through Friday. The office will be closed on Mondays.
Sunday School will begin again at 9:00AM on September 12th.
Men's Bible Study will begin meeting at 6AM on Thursday, September 16th at DPC.
The Tuesday Women's Bible Study "The Great Teachings of the Church: The Covenant" will begin meeting on September 21st from 10:30 a.m. to noon at DPC.
