Mike, Erin & Madison Pettengill

Peter is from Los Angeles, California and has always had an interest in missions. He attended divinity classes at Phoenix Seminary and has had the privilege of serving in full-time ministry for the past ten years; four in the PCA and six in Mexico with the Presbyterian Evangelistic Fellowship and Vida Nueva Church. Jenny was born in Mexico City and raised in Cabo San Lucas. She was called to missions at an early age and has gifts in the areas of teaching children and organizing women's events. She is a home-schooloing mother of two, is passionate about the gospel, and has a heart for mercy. The Boling's ministry is centered in Bogota, Columbia and includes theological training, discipleship, and pastoral support. There is also a focus on mercy ministries as Columbia has the second largest number of internally displaced people in the world at four million, trailing only the Sudan. Joel & Jessica Rinn
Joel graduated from Covenant Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree in 2003 and is ordained in the International Presbyterian Church, a small European denomination. Jessica has a BA in Bible Theology and is a native Italian. Besides
taking care of their children and opening their home for ministry,
Jessica does translating and editing work for a Reformed publishing
house in Italy called Alfa & Omega. After spending three years in the city of Ferrara, Joel and Jessica are now in the city of Verona. Verona is a fairly large city in northern Italy best known as the hometown of Romeo and Juliet. Although there was historically a Protestant presence in the city, currently there is little in terms of Evangelical witness. Joel and Jessica moved to Verona to plant a gospel-centered Presbyterian church. They are also conducting Bible studies for the International Students/University ministry. Made with Love Stitching Ministry will meet Friday, September 17th at 10AM at DPC.

Please come join us for our second card workshop of 2010 on September 22nd at 7PM! We will be creating a variety of cards to send to Operation Write Home, a non-profit group that sends blank homemade cards overseas to our troops to select and send to their loved ones. These soldiers select the card that fits the occasion (birthday, anniversary, etc.), adds their personal greeting and this organization mails them out free of charge. The fact that these cards are all “made with love” adds that special element for the wonderful men and women serving our country! No creativity required, the workshop will offer simple instructions and a good night of fellowship as we create ~160 cards to send to this worthwhile cause. Come join us!
COMING IN SEPTEMBER!
DPC will be hosting a conference on September 25th - "A Biblical Approach to Politics Today" with internationally renowned theologian and author Dr. Wayne Grudem. Dr. Grudem is Research Professor of Theology and Biblical Studies at Phoenix Seminary and has just authored a book "Politics According to the Bible" which will be for sale at the conference. The proceeds from this conference will support the Boling Family, Missionaries to Bogota, Colombia.

The new church office hours are 9AM to 2PM Tuesday through Friday. The office will be closed on Mondays.
Sunday School will begin again at 9:00AM on September 12th.
Men's Bible Study will begin meeting at 6AM on Thursday, September 16th at DPC.
The Tuesday Women's Bible Study "The Great Teachings of the Church: The Covenant" will begin meeting on September 21st from 10:30 a.m. to noon at DPC.
One of the families that Desert Palms Church supports are the Pettengill family who are missionaries to La Ceiba, Honduras. They keep us informed with their activities by sending out the "Pettengill Prayer Letter" each month.
